The security authorities in Iraq announced, on Friday,
Arresting a gang that robs the graves of the dead from the largest cemetery in the country, in Najaf Governorate.
And the Karbala Police Command stated, in a statement, that “after receiving appeals from citizens
with the thefts of the contents of their tombs,
A working group was formed headed by the Director of the Anti-Crime Department
And a group of officers and associates to arrest the thieves and bring them to justice.
The statement indicated that two people were arrested in flagrante delicto
During an attempt to rob one of the tombs in the Wadi Al-Salam cemetery, after they were ambushed.
The two thieves confessed to stealing audio speakers, water tanks, doors and windows.
Wadi Al Salam Cemetery, one of the most important Muslim cemeteries in the Iraqi city of Najaf,
It is the largest cemetery in the world, as it is estimated that it contains nearly 6 million graves, and it is included in the World Heritage List.
