Follow up: Nayrouz mohamed

Diabetes affects about 537 million people worldwide.

It is expected to rise to 783 million by 2045.

But what exactly is diabetes, and how does gestational diabetes affect the mother and the baby?

Often the symptoms of diabetes are not immediately apparent.

It can go undetected in many people for a long time.

Diabetics suffer from high blood sugar levels

(hyperglycemia) for prolonged periods,

Which causes serious health problems such as damage to blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and heart.

During pregnancy it can cause your blood sugar to rise constantly

or “hyperglycemia” to many health risks for the child,

There are two types of diabetes that can occur in the mother during pregnancy:

Gestational diabetes (pre-existing diabetes):

In this case, the expectant parent had type 1 or type 2 diabetes before conception.

Type 1 diabetes is not hereditary either.

People with type 2 diabetes cannot use their insulin

Pregnancy diabetes:

This condition develops during pregnancy, when the mother did not have diabetes before pregnancy

It usually disappears after the baby is born.

However, if there is a risk of developing type 2 diabetes,

The doctor can perform the examination early in the pregnancy.

The risk of developing gestational diabetes may be higher for those who:

Over 25 years old

Overweight and obesity

You had gestational diabetes in previous pregnancies.
